Sir Ranulph Fiennes is embarking on another monumental challenge this year to raise money for Marie Curie, who provide care and support to people living with terminal illnesses and their families.
Not content with scaling the north face of the Eiger and successfully reaching the summit of Everest, raising £6.3m in the process, the world's greatest living explorer will be pushing his body to the absolute limit in the 120 degree heat of the Moroccan Sahara desert.
Seventy-one year old Sir Ranulph Fiennes aims to raise £2.5m while racing to become the oldest Briton to complete the Marathon des Sables, a gruelling 156 mile run through the desert dubbed as ‘the toughest footrace on earth’.
